We first saw this statue of Captain Cook in Cooktown during our 2001 road trip from Cairns. We also stopped in Cooktown with "Arctracer" in 2005 on our way to Darwin. Cook's ship was almost wrecked on the Great Barrier Reef near here. We traveled in Cook's wake through many parts of the Pacific and greatly admire his accomplishments.
